The Women in Leadership Hospitality Program is a new initiative seeking to multiply the stories of women in leadership within the hospitality and tourism industry. Offering bespoke scholarship opportunities for emerging female leaders throughout Tasmania.

Scholarship Opportunities

Jumpstart your leadership journey with a paid scholarship from the Women in Leadership Hospitality Program.

We’re passionate about supporting Tasmanian women in their education and increasing the diversity and representation of women in leadership positions within the hospitality and tourism sector - that’s why we offer a fully funded scholarship program, with multiple leadership education options for emerging female leaders. It doesn’t matter where you are in your tourism or hospitality career, we believe there is an opportunity for you to grow and succeed.

We’ve selected four highly regarded leadership courses. However, if you’ve had your eye on a leadership program that isn’t listed here, let us know, as we would love to consider it as part of your application.

Applications for 2025-26 are open until Monday 7 July 2025.

Details

  • 15 scholarship opportunities for women aged 16+;

  • Applications open in late May 2025 and close on Monday 7 July 2025.

  • Dates for courses will be negotiated with the successful applicant, but must be commenced within 6 months of successfully receiving the scholarship;

  • The Women in Leadership Hospitality Program will pay for all course costs, and in some cases, the cost of travel and accommodation. This will be confirmed on offer of a scholarship;

  • Applicants must forward their completed application form to
    scholarships@tha.asn.au by the closing date;

Eligibility

To be considered for a Scholarship, candidates must:

  • be female*

  • be an Australian Citizen, or hold a visa that enables the applicant to live in Australia for at least the next five years;

  • be a resident of Tasmania;

  • be able to commit to commencing a course within 12 months of receiving the scholarship;

  • be able to commit to successfully completing the required course assessment within the indicated timeframe (varies for each course); and

  • be able to commit to completing all post-course and program surveys.

  • be willing to be interviewed during or after the scholarship has commenced for feedback and ways to improve. May be used for future storytelling / marketing opportunity.

*Tasmanians who identify as female are encouraged to apply.

Priority may also be given to women in regional and rural areas, women who are emerging leaders, and women in industries where they are traditionally under-represented and in non-traditional fields of employment.

  • This course equips you with essential skills to lead, motivate and support your team.

    You will:

    • explore effective leadership fundamentals, from transitioning to a supervisory role to identifying personal strengths.

    • master communication, team building, and conflict resolution to encourage and support collaboration.

    • learn strategies to inspire diverse teams, embrace inclusivity, and promote equality.

    • gain resilience and decision-making skills to navigate challenges and lead through change.

    • develop coaching techniques and performance management strategies to nurture individual growth and drive team success.

    This comprehensive program prepares you to be an inspiring and adaptable leader in today’s ever-evolving workplace.

  • Team leaders and frontline managers are a vital link between employees and senior management in every organisation. This qualification has been developed to provide you with the comprehensive skills you’ll need to lead, guide, and support your own team while organising and monitoring their workload. AIM’s Certificate IV in Leadership and Management teaches the essential knowledge that will allow you to analyse information, to apply solutions to a range of dynamic business problems.

  • With the latest theories and practical approaches to management, this Diploma is a nationally recognised business qualification designed to help plan, execute, and evaluate your own work and the work of your team. Exploring the critical capabilities that make an effective manager, this program is divided into three distinct sections that cover the management of business, performance, and people.

    The Diploma is especially suited to those wishing to upskill in a number of leadership and management areas. It is designed specifically for supervisors or middle managers that have responsibility for a team of people, as well as those who participate in operational planning and are involved in change management.

  • Start from the ground up. Learn the fundamentals of the boardroom with the Foundations of Directorship™ program.
Designed for aspiring and new directors, the Foundations of Directorship program is comprised of three one-day courses, Governance for Directors, Risk and Strategy for Directors and Finance for Directors.
